Course Description

Justice Cardozo said it best: “The Practice of Law is a Privilege, Burden with Conditions.”  Often lawyers find themselves answering to disciplinary charges pertaining to conduct wholly unrelated to their practice of law. Because of their personal conduct, they find themselves at risk of losing their licenses. Attorneys have received sanctions ranging from private to public discipline, including disbarment for conduct in their personal lives. We will explore some of these violations and the outcomes including:

  • DWI/DUI
  • Mental and Physical Illness
  • Domestic Violence
  • Sexual Misconduct
  • Bigamy
  • Failure to File taxes
  • Failure to pay child support
